io9.com Tim Minear Interview
io9.com interviewed Tim Minear about 2x11

Did you include the scene with Boyd packing up to go on the run just because it had been in "Epitaph One"? Is there a desire to connect the dots as much as possible with the flash-forwards in that episode? Is there stuff you can't do because it'll contradict that episode?

Epitaph One was the elephant in the room as we broke much of the eps and for me especially this one. For instance — I needed Dominic to come out of the Attic (so something would happen in the story, frankly, at that juncture), but he confronts Adelle at gunpoint in Epitaph One, and talks about the Attic, so I had her send him back so that scene would still make sense.

I WANT TO SEE MY COUCH-STRANGULATION-VODKA-LOVE SCENE NEXT EPISODE. Pretty please? :-S

That's a great interview, and I LOVE that they're taking that scene into context... Even if we don't see all of it again (I actually don't think we need to see all of the Boyd/Saunders clip in the last episode. We've seen it, we know what happens, show maybe a clip of it and move on, IMO.), we know that they might at least allude to it! I personally hope the segway into the part right after when they finally get to business on that couch (yeah, we all know that's what happened after :D ).

Well, I guess they needed to show the Boyd/Saunders clip because E1 is an unaired episode?

For sure, and I'm glad they showed it -- flipped out, actually, haha, since I'm happy to see anything from E1 within the context of the real timeline -- I just don't think they needed to show the whole thing. Especially at this point when we've only got a couple of eps left and every second of screen time is valuable. I would have rather they kept a couple of small lines that were cut from the draft that was posted online. That's only a small nitpick though, it just felt redundant since pretty much all of the fans of this show have seen E1 even though it didn't air.

Oh! Make sure to put this behind a spoiler cut! "Getting Closer" is less than a week old!

Off topic, but: And I shot Bennett in the head because it's funny.
ROFL!!!!

Also I like that they included a picture of D/D elevator awesomeness. It helps convinces me that we're not just crazy people.

I left a comment about that picture, but I think I wasn't logged in at that time, so, I don't know if I'll ever see that comment ever. That and the fact that I can't remember what I wrote because I was flailing. Lawlz.

I LOVE YOUR ICON.

YES. I want that scene to be canon in continuity so bad, it's one of my favorite television scenes of all time. Although hopefully this won't mean Dominic is stuck in the Attic for all of 2x12.

Which means he'd probably be alive during that timebeing. I just want a happy ending for the Dh peeps. They've been through too much torture episode in and out. :-S

This is a great interview! It is interesting to know where the Adelle + Topher + Ambrose!Victor scene fits in, before ll this went down. Which makes sense.

I'm surprised not a lot of people caught the reference. I kinda thought it was pretty blatant.

It was a lot to take in, I guess I was just being slow. Thinking about it now makes perfect sense.

Another for instance — I was going to include the Ambrose-as-Victor in the kitchen scene, but Adelle's hair was long. So I considered including it as a flashback when Adelle is telling Boyd that he has to go on the run, that Ambrose wouldn't confine his consciousness to a single body — she was going to tell Boyd she knows this because a few months back Ambrose came to her — in the form of Victor.

This struck me. If they're so concerned about Adelle's haircuts and the chronology of the scenes that come with it, I wonder what they're going to do with the strangulation scene! I mean, her hair is clearly long in there! I wonder if it has something to do with the, I don't know, Epitaph One being a huge Attic scenario. Which would implicate, that the strangulation/vodka/ust filled scene would happen AFTER they came back from the Attic, but that would mean the apocalypse would happen in the real reality and Caroline would find the cure and something would be ABSOLUTELY wrong and I've seriously confused myself here...

I'm also a bit surprised tat they first threw in the scenes in Epitaph One and started builiding up stories around themk only in the second season. or something. Here was me thinking Joss and the rest had an awesome story all planned from the very beginning. Anyway, something tells me this makes it even more awesome. OMG. Friday is NEAR.

Adelle/Olivia's Hair = serious issue. (lawlz)

Well, Epitaph One was created before they knew they were going to be renewed, so it kinda made sense that if they're going to go with Epitaph One as their future, their build-up will have to come from/have basis from the flashbacks in E1... Tim did say that they planned out who the Rossum head was when they were outlining season 2, so I guess they've already dropped hints about Boyd in the early eps of season 2...

And yes, Friday is near. omg.

Yeah, I know it's obvious, I guess I just actually thought they weren't going to be so seriously concerned about making even Adelle's hair an issue. I mean, I thought they were going to, IDK, alter those scenes from Epitaph One, or just make them happen with Olivia's new haircut.

Aaand I guess that was underestimating them! I'm glad they went with the complicated solution, which only makes me wonder how the strangulation scene (long hair, remember!) is going to fit in. Aww. It's funny how it's reeeeaally serious, the business with her hair :D The first time I saw it I was like "Hee, I bet she just cut her hair and went to work one day just like that and they were like 'Oh no, Olivia, what have you DONE?!' and then they had to work with that, lawl!"
Of course then I learned that she'd cut her hair because of her new movie, or something. :D
So much for obsession with her hair :P
