The nature of DeWitt/Dominic was asked at Echo-2
[livejournal.com profile] penikitty wrote a write-up about Echo-2, and someone asked OW and RD about Dewitt and Dominic. Which led to the revelation that Olivia Williams watches DeWitt/Dominic fanvids on youtube.

Okay, so during Fran and Olivia's talk someone asked Olivia what she thought the relationship was between Adelle and Dominic. Olivia got really excited and said "Are you the person that's made those amazing videos?" and the person said that no, she wasn't. Olivia then got extremely animated and excited and explained to us, and Fran, that there was a series of amazing videos on youtube set to music about Adelle/Dominic and that she watched them A LOT and they always make her happy.

I thought it was [livejournal.com profile] dollsome at first, but it turns out to be the great Ohsoleil. WORSHIP AT HER FEET. (I cannot link to her other vids because Youtube is blocking them. *shakes fist at youtube*)

The answer to the question is--

Yes she did answer and so did Reed. They both said they didn't see it as a romantic relationship. Reed said that he thought Dominic saw her as his queen and that he would do anything to protect her and their kingdom.

Thoughts? Personally, I love it that Reed said that he thinks Dominic sees Adelle as his queen. ♥♥♥

ETA: A question for you to ponder on: did you see DeWitt/Dominic as a romantic relationship? Yes? No? How did you see it and why?

YAY, I AM SO HAPPY I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO FEELS LIKE THIS ♥ I read The Remains of the Day the first time last summer and then watched the movie right after and I was shaken up by it for days. One of my favourite love stories ever, oh the pain!

ME TOO! I never really meet anyone who stans Remains of the Day like I do. Haha! No lie, my username for lots of things, including Tumblr, is "MissKenton." That woman! I shall love her and her tragic life to the end of time. Oh and Mr. Stevens. I can't even think about him because I just want to cry. I really need to get my hands on the book and finally read it.

adkljf;lakdj I am so happy to find a kindred spirit in this department! Miss Kenton is AMAZING, oh feelings! (Emma Thompson and Olivia Williams have such a similar kind of kickassness.) ♥ And OH, the book is beautiful. I liked it a bit more than the movie, even, and recommend it so. A+++!

Hehe, they absolutely do! I love them both so much. &hearts And this convo has now convinced me that I need to go find the book ASAP. No more waiting to find the time to read it. I shall make the time!

HUZZAH!!! The one difference that really struck me was that I found the novel's Stevens much more endearing/involving than Anthony Hopkins'. (Although I still liked him and really enjoyed him & Emma together; he just wasn't quite what I'd imagined.)

Really? Hmm, I can see that. I was remembering scenes last night after our convo while trying to fall asleep, and there are quite a couple of instances where he's very harsh with her and in the way he treats her. But then I remember that last scene in the movie when they're on the bench and he has tears in his eyes and then when they let go of their hands and I just can't help but love him, and them. &hearts Plus, I really liked the chemistry between Anthony Hopkins and Emma Thompson, much more than in Howard's End.

Yeah, Anthony Hopkins's Stevens was a lot sharper than the perception of the character I got from reading the book. But I still thought he did a really nice job. And oh, he and Emma! Wrenching my heart! I really enjoy the fact that they have been in two movies together -- and they are so affectionate in Howard's End, which is sort of cathartic. (Although their romance in Remains >>> Howard's End.)

I love that they're in two movies together as well. I have to say I saw Howard's End before I saw The Remains of the Day, and I was much more affected by the latter. I think that's natural though? And I can't help but feel that Emma should've won for Remains cuz I think she was nominated for that too? Idk, I'm a little sketchy on the facts, except that I know she won for Best Actress for Howard's End.

Oh, you're MissKenton. Hello. I'm blarblarnyar over there.

I'm going to assume that this story is depressing. :|

Yep, that's me! I don't think I've seen you on tumblr, now I'm gonna follow you now. :D

Oh! OMG I just looked at your tumblr!! How was I not following you before?? So fixing that now, and fair warning, be prepared for a couple of likes and reblogs from me. ;)

You do not even know how depressing it is! But it's in the most beautiful way. It's beautifully tragic. That's how I'd describe it. It just kind of makes your heart ache all the time. So if you're in to that kind of stuff, I recommend it.
